Frequently asked questions
How do I wind down after hosting?
Clear only what is needed, wash up, dim the lights and avoid screens.
Should I leave the dishes for tomorrow?
Yes if it protects your sleep. Dishes can wait, sleep cannot.
How much sleep do hosts need?
The same as others: 7 or more hours for adults.
What if I feel wired after guests leave?
Sit quietly in dim light, do slow breathing and go to bed when sleepy.
When are stomach symptoms at night a reason to see a doctor?
Get medical help for severe or worsening belly pain, vomiting that lasts more than a day, vomiting blood, black or bloody stools, trouble swallowing, chest pain, a high fever or signs of dehydration. Frequent heartburn or bloating is also worth discussing with a doctor.
Is 8 hours too much sleep?
Eight hours sits inside the normal range. If you regularly need 10 or more hours and still feel unrefreshed, mention it to a doctor, because it can be linked with health conditions, medicines or poor quality sleep.
Does a consistent sleep schedule really matter?
Yes. A regular sleep and wake time supports your body clock, which can make it easier to fall asleep and wake up. Large gaps between weekday and weekend times can leave you feeling jet lagged on Monday.
What happens in one sleep cycle?
A cycle moves through lighter NREM sleep (N1 and N2), deep slow wave sleep (N3) and then REM sleep. Early cycles contain more deep sleep, while later cycles contain more REM, which is why the last hours before waking are valuable for dreaming and memory processing.
