Yes, sleeping in Ihram is completely and fully permitted (jaiz). You may use a pillow, sleep on your back, side or stomach. Cover yourself with any unstitched blanket or sheet. Place your hand or a cushion under your head or face. The prohibited acts in Ihram relate to hunting, cutting nails or hair, using fragrances, and relations — none of which involve sleeping. Earplugs are also permitted as they do not cover the face.
Hajj falls in Dhul Hijjah, which in recent years corresponds to summer months (June-July). Fajr in Mecca in summer is approximately 4:45–5:15 AM. This means pilgrims finishing Isha and Tarawih around 10:30–11:00 PM have only 5–6 hours before Fajr. This compressed window makes Qaylulah (midday nap) essential — not optional.
Mina tent camps: extreme heat (45°C), crowding, noise and prayer call disruptions. Key strategies: Position near tent ventilation. Sleep in Ihram without extra clothing for maximum heat loss. Wet towel on chest cools core temperature rapidly (permitted in Ihram). Earplugs are permitted. A travel pillow maintains spinal alignment on hard camp floors. Most importantly — protect your Qaylulah between Dhuhr and Asr on all Mina days.
